Ratings play a central role in distinguishing submissions by quality. The rating is a measurement that most users draw upon when searching for submissions they want to download.

Most of you are far too generous with your ratings. Be stricter.

Ratings play a central role in distinguishing submissions by quality. The rating is a measurement that most users draw upon when searching for submissions they want to download. If over time assessors become too generous, the ability of the rating system to distinguish submissions by quality deteriorates. For this reason, accurate ratings are essential to maintaining order and meaning in our submission archives.

Below is a simple guide to help you determine when to award what rating for a submission's assessment criteria.

0 - 4.9
The criterion has serious flaws.

5 - 6.9
The criterion is average.

7 - 7.9
The criterion is good.

8 - 8.9
The criterion is of high quality.

9 - 9.9
The criterion is exceptional.

10
The criterion is perfect in every conceivable way.

If you are too generous with your ratings, you may receive a suggestion from a moderator to revise your assessments. Please consider this, as your assessments not only determine the effectiveness of the rating system but also influence each author's learning process.

Posted by Sh4d0w I really like the comment for 10. It annoys me when games like GTA 4 get ratings like 10/10, like as if nothing could possibly be improved, yet there are hundreds of flaws and whatnot. That aside, GTA4 really only deserves a 7/10.

"looks good 10/10" never any feedback with a 10/10 it seems. people should have to say Why it is 10/10. i need to quit getting shit for rating a 2 minute recolor a 3.

Awesome, I usually assess pretty strictly, but it seems I'm one of the only ones. Hopefully submissions won't be getting 10s when they don't deserve them now.
