The wrapup is a official consensus written by a mod or critic that summarizes the user feedback in a submission into a short paragraph no longer than 150 characters. The wrapup is intended as a qualitative addition to the quantitative ratings and provides an informative description of the submission's desirability.
The wrapup appears below the ratings in the assessment box of each submission and may appear in various submission lists across the site and in submission promotions.
Writing Wrapups
The following guidelines are to help mods and critics write effective wrapups:
- Always write in the third person.
- Avoid wrapping up submissions where no positive feedback is evident - adding insult to injury will not help the author improve.
- Use professional politeness - if the consensus is that the submission is poor but the author has potential, reflect this in an respectful manner, e.g "Underwhelming, but signs of...".
- If the submission is the author's first submission, make note of this in the wrapup, e.g "An honourable first attempt at a difficult challenge in...".
- If the author is an expert and is known for his or her consistently high quality submissions, you may refer to this, e.g "The king returns with this...".
