Well what I personally like to see on the news section is stuff like BIG updates, like in example the unlockables in TF2 or new maps, upcoming games, sequels, big engine updates and bugfixes (in this case, it's not big and a person who's really interested will just check the Steam updates) that open discussions.
My fear is just that these smaller news items could swarm the big news items from not getting recognized, which now isn't really the case but it was a while ago. (It was worse when everyone could post news ofc. :P)
The preload SF4 thing is an example of a news item I'd like to see. SF4 for PC was already announced months ago and it's pointing out that it's coming soon with a price cut. That Battlefield Heroes launched silently is a good one as well.
I also just read on the Gamespot website that Doug Lombardi announced new content for L4D before L4D2 releases and that L4D2 will have another additional multi-player mode.
It's true that I shouldn't have called it a copy-paste because I don't have super powers to know that. I never checked, but it did seem that it was a copy-paste with HTML formatting added, also due to it's short nature. I should apologize for that.
I do sound rude, I really need to work on that. xD
